Kuwait Exempt 14 Professions Require for Family Visas from Degree Programs

Kuwait has reopened family visas for foreign nationals under updated rules, which waive the need for a university degree for 14 professions.

For children under five, there is an exception to the minimum salary requirement of 800 KD. On January 28, 2024, the Ministry of Interior made an announcement regarding the start of family visitation visas again.

According to the updated rules, applicants seeking dependent or family visas must provide proof of a monthly income of 800 Kuwaiti dinars, or around Rs 2,16,150. Nonetheless, several occupations have been given exceptions from the university degree requirement. The salary requirement does not apply to people under five years old who were born in Kuwait or abroad to Kuwaiti parents, subject to certain restrictions. The acting undersecretary is required to carry out the decision as soon as possible, as stated in Article Two.

The visa regulation was changed so that foreign nationals working in 14 particular occupations can apply for family visas without a college degree. For foreign families hoping to get back together in Kuwait, this is a big shift. Legal professionals, medical professionals, educators, financial advisors, engineers, religious leaders, librarians, healthcare professionals, social workers, journalists, media professionals, sports coaches, pilots, and funeral directors are among the professions covered by the new regulations, which are detailed in Article 30. Many foreign families hoping to rejoin Kuwait view this action as a relief.

The revised Ministerial Resolution in Kuwait exempts children under five years old from the country's wage requirements for foreign parents living in Kuwait or elsewhere. To streamline the visa application procedure, the amended Article 29 lists the exemptions for 14 different professions. As an indication of the government's dedication to helping the expat community and promoting a stable family environment in Kuwait, the government has decided to resume granting family visas, which is a relief for foreign families that were split up during the brief suspension.
