According to the foreign affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, the new development is to give way to a new policy on evacuation of Nigerians.
The minister said, the evacuated Nigerians would not have to go into 14-day monitored isolation, provided they have tested negative from their county of origin.
Consequently, he said further evacuation process has been suspended to give way for the take- off of the new policy. He further stressed that with the new policy, evacuees will have to be tested at most 9 days before the take off of their flights. He said those who test positive will not be allowed to board. According to him, this new policy will give the government more room to fly more Nigerians home.
