Air passengers in the country may be in for unpleasant situation like flight delays as well as hike in fare as the Federal Government of Nigeria and World Airlines introduce new safety measures towards reopening of Airports and resumption of commercial flights. The world airlines have earlier introduced wearing of face masks for passengers and crew members as well as onboard social distancing measures that would leave middle seats empty which may eventually lead to fare hike. Health screening would more thorough to warrant several checks from the point of arrival at the airport to departure, following the decontamination of Lagos and Abuja airports.
Early arrival of passengers is now mandatory for departing passengers as there would be longer check-in duration. No doubt, there would be flight delays, checks and re-checks in order to observe safety protocols.
Similarly, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, also stated that escort of VIPs would no longer be allowed to tag along with their principals into the terminals, just as the VIPs would now be subjected to all safety and security checks.
