Airline Offers Discounted Tickets Of Up To 20% For Medical Workers

EgyptAir said it will offer international destinations tickets at a discount of up to 20 percent for the country’s medical staff in appreciation of their efforts amid the coronavirus pandemic crisis, a statement by the national airline said.

According to the statement, EgyptAir will also offer discounted tickets of up to 10 percent on domestic flights in “appreciation for the white army,” in reference to the country’s doctors and nursing staff.
Not less than 131 doctors have died from the pandemic, Dr Ibrahim Al-Zayat, a member of the Doctors Syndicate, said in press statements on Monday, July 13.
Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in May that Egyptian doctors who died from coronavirus are treated as martyrs. He said that financial compensation for the doctors' families will be handled by the Fund of Medical Professions as announced by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in late March.
On Sunday, Egypt reported 912 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 82,070 since the outbreak began in February.
The health ministry also reported 89 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 3,858.
EgyptAir resumed flights to over 29 destinations on 1 July after a three months hiatus as a result of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
