Qatar Airways Privilege Club Offering New Members Bonus

It’s fairly rare to see an airline loyalty program offer a compelling bonus for new members nowadays, but that’s exactly what we’re seeing from Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club is offering new members who follow the link to register with the promo code - JOIN2020:

2,500 bonus miles at the time of enrollment

5,000 bonus miles plus 50 Qpoints upon completion of their first Qatar Airways flight (this will be credited within 15 days of an eligible flight


This is valid for sign-ups through September 30, 2020, and for travel completed by December 10, 2020.

This is a solid offer, as you get 2,500 miles with no activity requirement, and an additional 5,000 miles after just one flight, not to mention 50 Qpoints towards status (Silver status requires 150 Qpoints, for example).

For what it’s worth, Qatar Airways miles expire roughly three years after they’re earned. You can’t extend the expiration simply with activity, as is the case with some other programs.

Bottom line

Qatar Airways is offering 2,500 bonus miles to all new members who register with the promotion code JOIN2020, and an extra 5,000 miles plus 15 Qpoints after taking an eligible flight.
While that is a good deal, two things to keep in mind are that:

• Qatar Airways Privilege Club miles expire after three years
• Overall Qatar Airways’ award redemption rates aren’t great, so even with this bonus, I generally think you’re better off crediting to another Oneworld frequent flyer program instead
