Pilot injured As FedEx Plane Makes Emergency Landing

One of the FedEx planes had made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport early Wednesday due to a mechanical issue, and one of the two pilots aboard was injured while getting off the aircraft.

L.A. City firefighters responded to the airport at about 3:50HRS, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Boeing 767-300F (reg. N146FE) was performing flight #FX1026 from New York-EWR. The aircraft went into a holding for 70 min.

It has been damaged when its left main gear is not extended on landing runway 25R at Los Angeles.

According to the reports, Spark was seen as the aircraft slid along the runway, with the engine under the left-wing scraping against the pavement.

One of the two pilots on board sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury while exiting the aircraft, according to Stewart. The second pilot was not injured.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation, Stewart said.
