The United Kingdom Government is considering the possibilities of changing the quarantine and testing rules for visitors arriving in the UK.
The Transport Secretary Grant Schapps said in a statement that the Government is considering other options for passengers arriving at UK airports, which could see a change in UK's self-isolation programme for arriving travelers being cut to 7 days from the present 14 days.
“We welcome the Transport Secretary’s announcement that testing to shorten quarantine is under active consideration by the Government and that airbridges to islands will now be instated where appropriate.” Heathrow Airport spokesperson said.
The move could, according to Heathrow bosses, help rebuild the country’s struggling aviation and travel sector.
"If introduced, these vital policy changes would show the Government understands how critical the restoration of air travel is to this country’s economic recovery".
"The Government needs to build on these developments and show global leadership to establish Common International Standards for testing before a flight". Heathrow spokesperson stated
