The management of London City Airport on Monday announced that 239 of the entire workforce will lose their jobs as the airport embarks on a major restructuring plan.
City's CEO, Robert Sinclair said "it is with huge regret that we are announcing this restructuring plan today, our thought are with all of our highly valued staff and their families. We have held off looking at job losses for as long as possible, but sadly we are not immune to the devastating effect of the Covid-19 virus".
City Airport has since last month cut all non-essential spending and put on hold the ongoing projects as it continues to struggle through the impact of the deadly virus.
