Saudi Arabia has announced a partial lifting of the ban it placed on international flights effect from Tuesday, September 15 to welcome exceptional flight categories. The state news agency SPA disclosed on Sunday.
The kingdom of Saudi Arabia emphasized that the 15 September reopening will be a partial resumption while full resumption of air, land, and sea transport for citizens will have to wait until January 1, 2021, the agency said, as it quoted an interior ministry official.
Saudi Arabia announced the suspension of all international flights into and out of the country in March to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The country has now announced a partial reopening of its border to some exceptional categories like public and military sector employees, diplomats and their families, workers in regional and international organizations, employees in permanent jobs outside the kingdom, and businessmen starting Tuesday.
Authorities also made it known that patients who need treatment abroad, particularly cancer for treatment or organ transplants as well as people with humanitarian cases, students on scholarships or medical fellowship programmes, and sports teams are also allowed to travel.
Those who are allowed to travel from Tuesday include GCC citizens and non-Saudi residents with valid residency or visitors' visas, provided they have tested negative to Covid-19 and can provide the negative certificate results.
The official also added that the decision to gradually allow the resumption of Umrah pilgrimages would be assessed separately from the currently planned lifting of the travel restrictions and the outcome would be made available as soon as possible.

Nice one
