EgyptAir To Assist Ghana In Setting Up A New Airline

EgyptAir has announced that it will assist Ghana to establish a new airline.

The new airline will be set up in the West African state and en-route within Africa and to/from North and South America.

According to the chairman and the CEO, EgyptAir Holding Company chairman Rushdi Zakaria, Egypt Air has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ghanaian government on 22 October, under which it will become a strategic partner in establishing the new operator.

The new airline had plans for routes across Africa and for connections to North and South America. EgyptAir chairman and CEO Amr Abu El-Enein said in a statement while disclosing the new deal.

The new carrier will be affiliated with the Ghanaian government, rather than state-owned. It is believed that Ghana wants to get the new company off the ground, but then take a back seat, allowing private investors to hold a majority stake and having aviation industry professionals carry out the operations.
