The Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan standard gauge train has finally commenced operations as announced by the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC on Monday, December 7.
After the announcement, the fare list for the Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan, standard gauge train was made known by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to NAN, the fare list for the standard gauge railway from Lagos – Abeokuta and Ibadan zone 1-2 are Lagos to Ibadan 24 seated fare: N6,000, 56 seated fare: N5,000, 68 seated fare: N3, 500, while the 88 seated fare goes for N2,500 only.
The fare from Lagos to Abeokuta, Zone 1 only, 24 seated buses cost N4,500, 56 seated buses cost N3,500, 68 seated N3,000 while the 88 seated railway costs N2,000.
Zone 11 of the Standard gauge railway from Abeokuta to Ibadan, 24 seated buses cost N2,000, 56 seated costs N1,500, 68 seated while the 88 seated spaces cost N600 only.
The standard gauge train commenced commercial operations on Monday 7 December 2020 ahead of the formal commissioning in the first quarter of the year 2021.
The new rail service is expected to ease traffic along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and bring great relief to many people, especially in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states.
