Turkish Airlines and Emirates are poised to resume flights between the UAE and Turkey in a few days for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which forced governments to shut airports.
According to reports, Turkish Airlines plans to resume the Istanbul-Dubai route within days, while Emirates is also planning to resume services to the route as Flydubai, a company own by the Dubai government is set to resume services within the two countries on 17 December.
Turkish Airlines and Emirates withheld flights between their two hubs even as both carriers revived their pandemic-depleted schedules. While neither airline said why the services remain suspended, the prolonged halt coincided with a worsening of relations between the two nations.
The planned restoration of flights suggests that tensions between the two countries are receding.
