A 26-year-old Nigerian man has been caught with 34 kilograms of cannabis at the Dubai Airport.
The Nigerian traveler was arrested after being caught with 34 kilograms of cannabis in three plastic bags at terminal 2 of the Airport, a court heard.
A custom officer discovered the haul of drugs after carrying out a search of his luggage.
According to the officer, “He looked suspicious and I was tasked to search his luggage.”
“The luggage was made of three large plastic bags which all contained drugs.” The officer added.
The search revealed 14.4kg of cannabis in one bag, 13.4kg in another, and 6.6kg in the third.
During questioning, the man said he did not know what the substance was, and insisted he had been asked to deliver it to a man in Dubai by a third party.
He denied a charge of possessing and smuggling drugs with intent to sell at Dubai Criminal Court.
A verdict is due to be passed on February 28.
