THOUSANDS OF PASSENGERS STRANDED AT THE AIRPORT OVER FLIGHT BAN

Thousands of travelers were stranded at different airports today over the suspension of transit flights by the UAE authorities.

Recall that the UAE announced the suspension of non-direct flights from the country four days ago in order to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. To this effect, airlines like Egypt, RwandAir, Ethiopia, and Kenya Airways which do not operate direct flights from Nigeria to the UAE have since sent memos to the travel operators.

Unfortunately, many passengers who had already made travel arrangements with the aforementioned airlines were not aware of the development while others who were already informed still proceeded to the airports in Lagos and Abuja hoping that the decision would be reversed. The passengers were all disappointed after arriving at the airport to find out that they were not going to be airlifted.

Those who were desperate to travel quickly made another arrangement with a direct airline. while others were told to go back to their booking agents for a possible refund.

The reports have it that many travelers planning to travel back to Nigeria from the UAE were also stranded at the airport.
