France is set to ease its Covid-19 travel restrictions on seven non-European EU countries and the UK.
People arriving from the U.K., Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia will no longer "need to have a compelling reason to travel to France." The foreign ministry announced on Thursday.
The French government on 31 January banned all non-essential travels as part of the moves to curb the spread of Covid-19 variants, including the UK variant.
Safety measures remain in place for travelers. All passengers arriving in France will still need to provide a negative Covid-19 test result issued less than 72 hours before they travel, the ministry stated.
French Tourism Minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said the decision to ease restrictions was taken because of the improving health situation in the seven countries.
