Africa’s largest carrier, Ethiopian Airline has announced the commencement of flight operations to and from Akanu Ibiam International Airports, Enugu. A statement from the airline confirmed that the carrier is fully set to resume flight operations to Enugu from October 1,2021.
The airlines’ General Manager, Shimeles Arage, disclosed in a statement on Sunday, September 19, 2021, that the airline will be operating three weekly services when it commences operation on the 1st of October.
According to Arage “October 1 is Nigeria’s Independence Day and the flight to Enugu on that day will reinforce Ethiopian Airlines’ good relations with Nigeria since the first flight to Nigeria in 1960, Every week there would be a flight on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with B787 Dreamliner.”
“Before the closure of the airport for runway repairs, Ethiopian was the only international airline flying to Enugu and flights were suspended from Enugu due to airport renovations done by the Federal Government to improve the runway” He stated.
