No fewer than 162 Nigerians have been repatriated from Libya to Nigeria on Wednesday 3rd November.
The returnees from Tripoli, Libya which comprise 98 women, 28 men, 24 Children, and 12 Infants were received by the Federal Government after arriving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 2.10am on Wednesday.
They were all brought back by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) through the Voluntary Repatriation Programme.
The programme helps to bring back home stranded migrants who left their home countries in search of greener pastures in Europe but are stuck on the way to their prospective destinations.
Since 2017, the IOM has assisted over 22,000 Nigerians stranded abroad to return home.
According to Port Health, five of the returnees were discovered to have different health-related issues.
The report has it that the returnees were received by the Port Health Unit of the Federal Ministry of Health, the National Commission for Resilience, Migration, and IDPs, NEMA, and the Nigerian Immigration Services.
Meanwhile, Nigerian youths who have a dream of travelling outside the country in search of greener pasture have been advised to do so legally to avoid a reoccurrence of such.
