Passengers Stranded At The Airports As Aviation Handling Company Embarks On Strike

Travelers are currently stranded in all the airports across Nigeria as all flights in and out of the country were canceled on Monday morning due to a strike called by Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc. (NAHCO) employees over demand for pay raises.

The reports have it that all passengers arriving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos were denied entrance to the premises except those who arrived early before the announcement was made. Every airport terminal, both local and international, has been closed due to the strike.

It was gathered that the Qatar flight that was supposed to land this morning and carry passengers back was diverted to a neighboring country as there were no officials to handle the flight,

The stranded and # angry passengers had been kept outside to prevent a crisis. The report says.

NAHCO manages check-in, boarding, and ramp services for several foreign airlines, such as Air France/KLM, Qatar, Ethiopian Airlines, Delta Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Turkish Air.

The situation will result in additional grounded flights, according to travelers. A NAHCO source who wished to remain anonymous said management discussed the potential strike with staff on Sunday but promised it would be resolved quickly.

Passengers would suffer enormous financial losses as a result of the scenario, according to an aviation specialist.
