The Danish government has announced the implementation of new rules for foreigners granted residence permits for employment or study to boost international recruitment.
According to the Danish Immigration Services, “On March 23, 2023, the Danish Parliament passed several amendments to the Danish Aliens Act in the areas of work and study to strengthen international recruitment. It is possible to apply for a residence permit under the new schemes from 1 April 2023 when the schemes come into effect.”
In addition, under the new regulations, businesses will
be able to submit an application for certification to the Fast track system
with at least ten full-time employees rather than 20 as they could before the
change. The Start-up Denmark program will also be expanded to accept more
applicants, as will the Positive List for People with a Higher Education, which
includes those who were given a position on the list of professions in Denmark
where there is a scarcity of skilled workers.
The Danish Student Visa allows foreign students to study
there and allows admission up to two weeks before and after the program's
conclusion. Applicants must be accepted into a higher education program,
speak English or Danish fluently, have their application approved by the
educational institution, and be able to support themselves financially while there. Citizens from outside the EU and the EEA who have a company
concept or idea are eligible for Danish Startup Visas. They can get a residence
permit once their business has been approved.
