The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to commence a new freelance work permit that will allow people of all skill levels to operate as freelancers in the country or from across the world.
During the "remote" forum held in Dubai on Wednesday, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization Abdulrahman Al Awar announced the implementation of a flexible work permit by the third quarter of 2023, allowing both high- and low-skilled people to work as independent contractors within the bounds of the law and after registering with the ministry. This action will benefit the workforce since it will release them from the constraints of a certain employer and provide them the freedom to choose the kind of work they wish to do.
The UAE has introduced several new visas and residency permits intended to draw and keep talented and competent people from all over the world. Approximately 24,000 new jobs could be created by the new permit by 2024, resulting in an increase in the diversity of the workforce and the spread of skills. By boosting labor market productivity and enhancing the workforce, this arrangement will be advantageous to both employers and employees. Positive about the idea, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) hopes it will also increase productivity in the private sector.
