The
process of obtaining a work visa can be difficult and complicated because many
countries prioritize their residents and restrict the jobs open to
foreigners.
Some countries require an offer letter before granting a work visa, while others permit foreigners to remain and hunt for work without one. The required visas for these nations are listed below.
Germany offers a job seeker visa for those who wish to stay in the country for six months while looking for work. This visa is only available to people with five years of work experience, means to sustain them financially, and documentation of their successful completion of an academic or vocational program. Citizens of the EU/EEA, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Canada, and the USA are not eligible to apply. Additionally, individuals must provide proof of housing, financial support, an academic degree, health insurance, and housing. Indian citizens must have a minimum bank balance of €5,682, or 4.8 lahks, and pay a cost of €75, or $6,351.50.
Portugal
introduced a visa in June 2022 that allows its holder to remain in the country
for 120 days while looking for work. The holder must leave the country if they
are unable to find employment within the required time frame, but can reapply
for a new visa after a year has passed. For this visa, the holder must have a
bachelor's degree or equivalent, a three-month passport, two passport-sized
photos, documentation showing they have enough money and resources, no criminal
record, current travel insurance, and a return ticket. The cost of a
visa is 90 euros ($8062).
The UAE offers a job seeker visa valid for 60, 90,
or 120 days and allows holders to travel without a UAE sponsor. The most
important requirements are having a bachelor's degree or equivalent, financial
stability, recently graduating from one of the world's top 500 universities, or
being at the first, second, or third skill level according to the UAE Ministry
of Human Resources Emiratization (MOHRE).
Austria grants a six-month work visa to "very highly qualified professionals" with a minimum of 70 points based on credentials, work experience, language proficiency, age, and educational background. These include four years of study in mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, or technology, a post-doctoral degree or Ph.D., a gross salary from the previous year, research and innovation activities, honors, work experience, and language skills. A valid passport, photo, proof of accommodation, health insurance, and financial resources are required of applicants, in addition to the €150 (about $13,426) application fee for a work seeker visa.
