New Zealand Widens Job Opportunities, Initiates Fast-Track to Residency

New Zealand has announced the expansion of its Immigration Green List to include 17 critical occupations to address skills shortages, stimulate economic growth, and compete globally for skilled workers.

The move, announced by Immigration Minister Andrew Little, will give people working in these 17 new jobs across several industries a quick route to residency. The action aims to strengthen the workforce in the country and promote economic growth around the world.

Employers in industries including engineering, automotive, and information technology will have access to Green List visas when looking for specialized talent that isn't available among New Zealand workers.

The newly incorporated occupation includes,

1 Prison guards

2 Welders

3 Aviation engineers

4 Database administrators

5 Panel beaters

6 Road roller operators

7 Vehicle painters

8 Aircraft maintenance engineers

9 Corrections officers

10 Fitter and turners

11 Fitter generals

12 Fitter-welders

13 ICT database administrators

14 Mechanical engineering technicians

15 Metal fabricators

16 Metal machinists first class

17 Naval architects

The government's decision to expand the Green List of occupations will likely increase immigration to New Zealand, which is already increasing. The Treasury Department cautions that this additional demand could exacerbate inflationary pressure. Employers will have access to a larger trained workforce thanks to the predicted reduction in labor market pressure, which could result in higher earnings and improved working conditions.
