The UK's Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) has announced an
increase in visa costs for individuals seeking entry or residency starting February
6, 2024.
This surge will affect both adults and minors, as it will increase the annual cost of visas, including exemptions and other key adjustments in visa fees.
The Immigration Health Surcharge will rise from £624 to
£1,035 per year; for applicants who are students or under the age of 18, the
increase is from £470 to £776 per year. Applications for visas that need
payment in advance are submitted with them to enter or reside in the
UK. The reduced rate for students and those under the age of eighteen will rise
from £470 to £776 (a 65% increase), while the standard adult cost will increase
from £624 to £1,035 (a 66% increase).
The UK government delayed the implementation of an increase
in the Health Surcharge until February 6, 2024, due to Parliamentary delays.
Visa costs for visitors, students, and foreign employees have been updated by
the Sunak administration. Tourist visa costs have increased from £100 to £115
for stays under six months, while student visas now require £490. The minimum
wage for skilled worker visas has also increased by 47%, from £29,000 to
£38,700 ($49,100). This increase does not apply to applications submitted
before January 6. The modifications are expected to total £38,700, with a
timetable to be announced by spring. The recent increase in the Health
Surcharge and other immigration fees are crucial for UK residents.
