Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced the digitalization
of the Permanent Resident Visa (PRV), Second or Subsequent Resident Visa
(SSRV), and Variation of Travel Conditions (VOTC) application process with the
introduction of online visa applications.
The move enhances accessibility and efficiency by providing internet tracking capabilities and streamlined procedures, making the process easier for candidates and attracting more New Zealanders.
The New Zealand visa online application system covers the
following visa types: Permanent Resident Visa (PRV), Second or Subsequent
Resident Visa (SSRV), and Variation of Travel Conditions (VOTC). PRV is a
permanent residency that permits unrestricted living, employment, education,
travel, and sponsorship of spouses and children. SSRV is a visa that allows the
holder of a previous visa to reestablish residency. VOTC permits the holder of
a current visa to modify travel restrictions. The Global Impact and Afghan
Emergency Resettlement Visas can be applied online, which speeds up
processing and eliminates the need for physical documentation.
The permanent visa program allows nationals to travel, live,
work, and study in the country, and to bring their dependent children up to 24
and their partners. To streamline processes and reduce reliance on physical
papers, the country is moving its PR Visa application process online. Online
status checks are available, but there may be restrictions under certain
conditions.
Eligibility requirements include having a valid residence
visa for at least two years, meeting good character standards, and proving
commitment through education, investment, or job experience. If an application
is submitted before these requirements are met, it may be rejected and require
a reapplication. Candidates must also pay the NZD 240 processing charge at the
time of submission.
