The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has announced new processing times for UK visa applications, effective from February 2025. These updates affect applicants both within and outside the UK.
Processing Times for Applicants Outside the UK
Tourist and short-term visit visas, student visas, work visas, and other popular visas (such as the Youth Mobility Scheme, Innovator Founder, and Global Talent) will be processed within three weeks. However, family visas will take twelve weeks.
Faster Processing with Priority & Super Priority Services
Eligible applicants can pay an additional fee for priority services, reducing waiting times significantly.
Processing Times for Applications Inside the UK
Visit visas will take eight weeks to process, while student visas will be processed within the same timeframe. Work visas, including health and care worker visas, will take three weeks; however, other work-related visas, such as the Skilled Worker Visa, will require eight weeks. Family visas will take twelve months, and other visas (including British National (Overseas), investor, entrepreneur, and scale-up worker visas) will also take eight weeks.
Potential Delays
Applications may experience delays due to missing or incorrect documents, additional interviews, high application volumes, or technical system outages.
Where to Submit Your UK Visa Application in 2025
Applicants outside the UK can submit their applications at Visa Application Centres (VACs) worldwide. Those inside the UK can book an appointment at UK Visa and Citizenship Application Service (UKVCAS) centers or Service and Support Centres (SSC).
With these updates, applicants can expect more efficient processing times and clearer timelines for their UK visa applications.
