British Airways Eyes Cheaper Flights with Sustainable Aviation Fuel

British Airways is testing a new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) made from waste materials that could power its planes.

The airline has partnered with a company to develop the fuel, which is produced from waste materials such as household trash and sewage sludge.

According to the airline, the new fuel has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional fossil fuels.

The fuel is still in the testing phase and is currently more expensive than traditional jet fuel. However, British Airways says it is committed to using more sustainable fuels in the future.

As part of its sustainability efforts, British Airways has hinted that the use of SAF could lead to cheaper flights. The airline's chief executive, Sean Doyle, has stated that the adoption of SAF could help reduce ticket prices, making eco-friendly travel more accessible to a wider audience.

The airline is one of several companies testing alternative fuels as the aviation industry looks for ways to reduce its carbon footprint.

Some critics argue that sustainable aviation fuels are not a long-term solution and that the industry should focus on electrification and other alternatives.

However, supporters say that SAFs can play an important role in reducing emissions in the short term while other technologies are being developed.

British Airways' partnership is part of a broader effort to make air travel more sustainable. The airline has set a goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
