Ethiopian Airlines Set to Boost Nigeria's Tourism

Nigeria is rapidly emerging as Africa's preferred destination for entertainment and cultural events, and guess who's ready to supercharge that growth? Ethiopian Airlines. As the continent's largest airline, they connect over 60 African cities to their massive global network, making them a crucial player in boosting trade and tourism across Africa.

Firiehiwot Mekonnen, the newly appointed Area Manager for Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, is all in. She has pledged that the airline will ramp up its efforts to attract tourists to Nigeria and encourage Nigerians to explore Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. "Ethiopian Airlines is a connector of African trade and tourism," she shared. "We're committed to driving more tourism into Nigeria from around the world and also encouraging Nigerians to explore Ethiopia and other parts of Africa."

Ethiopian Airlines has consistently been a champion of Nigerian cultural events, offering discounted fares and seamless travel for events like Carnival Calabar. And if you're already planning for "Detty December," Firiehiwot promises they'll make it even more accessible. She believes in Nigeria's untapped tourism potential, highlighting its vibrant culture, stunning natural beauty, and diverse attractions that deserve global attention.

Nigerians, with their well-known love for travel, have long relied on Ethiopian Airlines' extensive global reach. The airline has been serving Nigeria since 1960, flying its most modern fleet on Nigerian routes.

Firiehiwot brings a ton of experience to her new role. She recently led ET Holidays, overseeing all of Ethiopian Airlines' travel and tour packages. Additionally, she has held leadership positions in Europe and Nigeria, including General Manager in Lagos and TSM for the Abuja station. Her deep expertise in travel, tourism, and airline management is poised to significantly strengthen Ethiopian Airlines' presence and impact in Nigeria.
