As the global aviation industry continues its robust recovery, Qatar Airways has announced a significant increase in flight frequencies across its international network. The expansion is strategically focused on Africa, Europe, and Asia, aiming to provide passengers with greater flexibility and seamless connectivity through the award-winning Hamad International Airport in Doha.
Focus on Africa:
Strengthening Regional Ties
A central pillar of this
expansion is the airline’s commitment to the African continent. To meet rising
demand for both business and leisure travel, Qatar Airways is increasing
services to several key gateways:
East Africa: Flights to Entebbe, Uganda, have
increased from 7 to 11 weekly, while the Dar es Salaam-Kilimanjaro route in
Tanzania has jumped from 3 to 7 weekly flights.
Southern Africa: The Durban service (via Maputo) has
been bolstered to a daily schedule (7 flights per week).
North Africa: Connectivity to Tunis has been
enhanced, moving from 10 to 12 weekly services.
Global Reach: Europe and
Asia
Beyond Africa, the airline
is scaling up operations in major global markets to accommodate the peak travel
season:
London Heathrow: Now seeing a massive 56 weekly
flights (up from 49).
Amsterdam & Madrid: Services to Amsterdam have
increased to 11 weekly flights, while Madrid has risen to 17.
Asia-Pacific: Frequency to Tokyo Narita has grown
to 14 weekly flights, ensuring better access to the Japanese market.
Enhanced Passenger
Experience
This growth is supported by
Qatar Airways’ modern fleet, including the integration of Starlink high-speed
Wi-Fi on select aircraft, offering passengers free, "gate-to-gate"
connectivity.
According to Chief
Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori, these additions reflect the airline’s
mission to anticipate market trends and deliver a world-class travel
experience. By leveraging its hub at Hamad International Airport, recently
named the "World’s Best Airport" by Skytrax. Qatar Airways continues
to solidify its position as a leading global connector, supporting
international trade and tourism growth.
