EXPLORE NORWAY’S HERITAGE THROUGH THE ICOM-CC OSLO 2026 TOURS




The 26th Triennial Conference of the International Council of Museums – Committee for Conservation [ICOM-CC] offers optional guided excursions for participants to explore Norway’s museums, cultural heritage sites, conservation projects, and historic landmarks before and after the main conference.

The theme is “Cultural Connections in Conservation,” and it will bring together:

What are the tours about:

The tours are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences for museums and conservation professionals through:

·         Behind-the-scenes access to museums and conversation laboratories

·         Visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites

·         Exploration of Viking, medieval, and Sami cultural heritage

·         Meetings with conversation experts and heritage specialists

·         Insights into preservation techniques for artifacts, architecture, and cultural collections

Highlights include:        

·         The new Viking Age Museum in Oslo

·         Alta’s UNESCO-listed Stone Age rock art

·         Nidaros Cathedral Restoration Workshop in Trondheim

·         Ringve Music Museum and its instrument conservation laboratory

·         The Munch Museum and Norway’s National Museum

·         Traditional Sami culture and heritage sites in Northern Norway

·         Historic stave churches and medieval architecture

·         Kunstsilo Museum in Kristiansand and other major cultural institutions
