A male passenger from British Columbia has become Canada’s first citizen to be arrested for failing to wear a face mask on board. But that wasn’t the only offense he committed. He also lit up a cigarette during a flight. Police said.
Balvir Singh, a 60 year old man, was flying on Sunday, from Vancouver to Toronto, aboard WestJet Airlines.
Singh suddenly became unruly in the flight and refused to wear a face mask, which has become a requirement of all passengers. He also lit up a cigarette midway between Vancouver and Toronto the intended destination, This prompted the crew to make an unscheduled diversion to Winnipeg.
It was reported that a male passenger had lit up a cigarette on board and was also not listening to any of the instructions from the flight crew which included wearing of face mask for his personal safety.” Said Cpl. Julie Courchaine of Manitoba’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Upon landing, he was arrested, charged with misconduct and three counts of failing to comply with instructions of flight crew.
