Qatar Airways To Lay Off Foreign Pilots, Cut Wages

Qatar Airways is set to lay off some of it's pilots and cut the salaries of others by as much as 25 percent as a result of global crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

According to sources, pilots will now be included in previously announced job cuts, while others will have their salaries reduced by 25 percent.

Bloomberg disclosed, citing an internal letter that the layoffs and salary reduction will not affect Qatari nationals.

The carrier said to have previously deferred salary payments, with some employees receiving 50 percent salaries from April to June to be paid back later

Qatar Airways had previously announced it would lay off about 8,000 of its more than 40,000 workers but later said fewer could be laid off.
