Tourism in Egypt begins to rebound in July, country's Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany says.
Egypt’s coastal governorates of the Red Sea, South Sinai, and Matrouh have received more than twenty-two thousand tourists since the resumption of international flights at the beginning of the month, Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany disclosed this in an interview with CNBC Arabia.
The minister also said that no COVID-19 cases have been reported among them so far. Historical and cultural tourism in Luxor and Aswan governorates will resume when COVID-19 cases there subside, he added.
While the ministry is helping investors complete projects that were already in development pre-COVID, it’s just too early to talk of new investment in the sector at this stage, El Anany said in his statement.
Egypt has recorded more 92,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with about 34 thousand recovered and more than 4,000 deaths.
