57 Air Indian Pilots Resigned, Citing Financial Constraints
No fewer than 57 pilots have so far resigned from Air India airline due to the financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The carrier confirmed on Saturday that 57 pilots seeking greener pastures have resigned from the Airline, citing financial constraints.
Among those who resigned were the permanent and contractual staff. Some of the pilots who gave it a second thought withdrew their resignations but the Airline said it no longer need their services and had since accepted their resignations.
The aviation industry is directly and worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic which has led to the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and furloughs, while other hundreds of thousands of jobs are still at risk across the globe.
The worst-hit sector is expected to lose about $84.3 billion in 2020 and the recovery will take up to the year 2024. Experts have predicted.
