There are indications that Britain may finally succumb to the Airlines' demand to introduce the COVID test for arriving passengers from the high-risk countries instead of quarantine.
According to the health minister, Matt Hancock, Britain is already collaborating with London’s Heathrow Airport on a plan to use COVID-19 testing to help shorten the number of days that travelers have to spend in quarantine when they arrive from certain countries.
“We’re working with Heathrow and other airports on this project,” Hancock told Sky News on Wednesday.
He added that the plan had difficulties given the virus’ incubation period.
“The challenge is how to do that testing in a way that we can have confidence enough in to release the quarantine,” he said.
A group of British airlines has since requested the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to introduce the COVID testing instead of 14-day quarantine. Saying, it would allow the UK’s aviation industry to begin to recover from the effect of coronavirus pandemic.
