South Africa Sets To Reopen Borders For Tourism

The government of South Africa has confirmed that the country will officially reopen its borders for tourism on October 1, 2020.


The reopening of South African borders will give travelers and tourists access into and out of the country again, after several months of lockdown.

According to a statement by the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, We will gradually and cautiously ease restrictions on international travel, allowing travel into and out of South Africa for business, leisure and other travel with effect from the 1st of October 2020”.


“We are ready to open our doors again to the world and invite travelers to enjoy our mountains, our beaches, our vibrant cities, and our wildlife game parks in safety and confidence”. Ramaphosa added.


South Africa is one of the world's hardest-hit countriesies by the coronavirus pandemic and has closed its borders since March 27, to curb the further spread of the deadly virus.


In the meantime, Ethiopian Airlines Group, the largest aviation group in Africa has announced it will restart scheduled commercial flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town on October 1, 2020, the same day South Africa is reopening its borders for international travel.
