The Beauty Of Nigerian Tourism - North Central

The North Central part of Nigeria is made up of seven states, namely Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, and the FCT. Commonly referred to as the Middle Belt, this area is populated mainly with the Hausa-Fulani people. This region is home to several festivals and exciting places for tourists and fun-seekers.


Anwase-Abande Ranges is located in Benue with the picturesque beauty of natural formation. It is best for picnics, outdoor activities, hiking, etc. Its natural formations are untouched by civilization.

In Abuja, the Central of Business District is another place to visit. The Central of Business District is where you will find the Arts and Crafts Village. Here, art enthusiasts admire and purchase works by local artists.


A unique tourist attraction in Kogi state is Mount Patti. This is an attractive tourist site. One gets to see the confluence point of the Rivers Niger and Benue. There is also the statue of Flora Shaw and Lord Lugard's office at the bottom of the Mountain.


In Kwara, there is the Esie Museum and the Owu waterfalls. The Esie Museum was the first museum to be built in Nigeria. Tourists also get to see the largest soapstone collection in the world. The Owu waterfall is referred to as the Wonder in the Wildernesses and is popularly regarded as the highest waterfall in West Africa.

Nasarawa has the Farin Ruwa Waterfall and Keana Salt Village as its an important center of attraction. The Farin is regarded as the most gorgeous waterfall in all of Nigeria. Salt can be seen and gotten at large quantities in the Keana Salt Village. You get to see the traditional tools and equipment for processing salt.

The largest National Park is found in Niger. This is the Kainji National Park, which is very close to the popular Kainji hydroelectric dam of Nigeria. There is also Guarara Falls, which has the largest width of falls in Nigeria.

In Plateau, we have the National Museum Complex, also known as the Jos Museum. It is the second museum established in Nigeria and most famous for displaying prehistoric Nigerian architectural designs. One of the major festivals celebrated in the Middle Belt is the New Yam Festival. The festival marks the end of harvest and the beginning of a working season. It symbolizes abundance and well-being.
