Barely four years after the suspension of operations in Nigeria, the US-based carrier, United Airlines, has announced its plan to come back to the country.
The United Airlines was operating direct flights between Houston and Lagos before it stopped Nigeria operations in about four years ago.
The carrier disclosed that its present plan is to expand its global network to more destinations which include a new nonstop flight service between Nigeria and the United States starting next summer.
United's Managing Director International Sales, Marcel Fuchs said: "This new nonstop service will strengthen our international route network and provide our customers from Nigeria with direct access to the United States and the possibility to connect via our Washington Dulles hub to destinations across the Americas."
"Connecting Lagos to the U.S. will open up new opportunities for both business and leisure travelers and help our customers in Nigeria reconnect with friends and family around the world." Marcel Fuchs added.
United Airlines will become the only airline to serve Lagos nonstop from Washington, D.C. with three weekly flights to each destination starting next year, if government aproves the route.
