Air Canada has announced another job cut of about 1,500 and a reduction in its international routes.
The carrier cited travel restrictions as well as low patronage for the action it took that will last until at least April 30.
According to the airline's spokesperson, the move has reduced 17 routes from the company's current roster which includes flights between Toronto and Fort Meyers, Washington-Reagan, Denver and New York City-LaGuardia, Montreal to Boston and LaGuardia, and Vancouver to Seattle.
It also affects flights from Toronto to Bogota, Dublin and Sao Paulo, Montreal to Bogota, and Vancouver to London and Narita.
Air Canada will continue to postpone starting service to Dubai and Hong Kong from Toronto’s Pearson, and continue its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv.
More staff may still lose their jobs if the situation fails to improve. The spokesperson stated.
