NRC To Commence 16 Trips Along Lagos-Ibadan Rail Line

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has said it plans to operate 16 daily trips along Lagos - Ibadan rails when the operations begin fully.

The Managing Director of the NRC, Fidet Okhiria, made this known on Saturday 27th February, during an inspection tour of the ongoing railway project.

According to Okhiria "when we start fully, we will have eight trains coming down and going up on a daily basis, making 16. We are hoping that within the next week, we will increase it to 2 up, 2 down, and that time, we will be able to stop at Agege."

"We will be able to stop at Agege, Abeokuta, and Ibadan. People will be able to buy tickets at Agege. Currently, the passenger turnout is low but we are increasing it to two because people do not travel at the same time." He said.

"We usually run in the morning from Ibadan. But now, we are going to introduce one from Lagos in the morning and another in the evening. we will also add more stoppage stations."

Okhiria added that work has started on the E-ticketing for Lagos - Ibadan and should be completed within the next six months.

"We are already working on it. What we did before was specific to the Abuja-Kaduna route. When we started the process, construction had not begun. The Lagos-Ibadan rail will not take much time, but we will be able to achieve it within six months." He said.
