UK BANS QATAR AND ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES

The United Kingdom has added Qatar and Ethiopia to its "Red List" countries. More than 30 countries are on the UK's red list which includes the UAE, South Africa, and most South American countries. The list is primarily based on the risk of the importation of different strains of coronavirus.

The implication of Qatar and Ethiopia being added to the list is that the airlines from the two countries, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines will not be able to operate passengers' flights to the UK.

The suspension of Qatar and Emirates Airlines is expected to take effect from Midnight of  March 19. Both airlines could still operate cargo flights between their countries and the UK. And could operate passengers' flights from the UK back to their countries but not from their countries to the UK as the ban is specific to passengers' entry to the UK.
