The European Union has resolved that all its 27 member countries should start lifting travel restrictions on tourists from the United States.
The decision to remove the United States citizens from the list of the banned countries was taken on Wednesday during a meeting of permanent representatives in Brussels. Tourists from the United States and nonessential travelers can now visit the European Union countries without any restrictions.
Meanwhile, national governments still have the right to set travel conditions and to require test results or vaccination records before entry can be granted.
Apart from the U.S., the EU nations' representatives have also added five more countries which include North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Lebanon, and Taiwan to the tourist travel list. The European Council updates the list based on the epidemiological data and the list gets reviewed biweekly.
