An Egyptian vulture was sighted in the UK for the first time in more than 150 years


An Egyptian vulture has been seen in the UK for the first time in over 150 years. The vulture which was first sighted at Peninnis Head on St Mary's was pictured on a tree in Tresco in the isles of the Scilly.

The Egyptian vulture which is described as a famous and ancient bird is expected to draw thousands of bird watchers to the Islands after the official sightings in the UK.

According to the experts, the sighting of this vulture (wild-bird) is believed to be the first since 1868 (153 years).

The UK sighting of the vulture is a rare one, as the bird is commonly seen in southern Spain and Northern France. The experts say.

It is believed that the bird may have got lost but will provide a rare opportunity for the birdwatchers.
