London Heathrow Airport has finally separated red-listed country flights from the lower risk arrivals.
Presently, the Red-List countries' list comprises 43 countries from which arrivals are thought to present a threat of introducing coronavirus.
Red list arrivals must quarantine in a hotel for 10 days once they arrive in the UK. Red list countries from where direct flights to the UK are permitted include India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya, and Bangladesh. While countries such as Portugal, Iceland, Australia among few others are categorized as Low-risk Countries and the arriving passengers are free to associate and interact in the society.
Previous month pictures revealed how arriving passengers stood for long hours at the airport with little or no social distance.
The
airport blamed the long queues and lack of social distancing between high
and low-risk arrivals on the time it was taking Border Force staff to process
people arriving back to the United Kingdom.
The decision to separate arrivals on direct flights from red list destinations was
welcomed by the GMB union, which had earlier warned that bottlenecks will continue to put passengers and staff at risk.
