Canada Eases Restrictions For The Vaccinated Residents

Canada has on Monday eased its travel restrictions for fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents. The move is part of a gradual process of border reopening measures in the country.

The reports have it that non-Canadians, either vaccinated or not are still not welcome in Canada, as the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to spread in Ontario and other parts of the country.

Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau who disclosed this in a statement during a press conference over the weekend says: “Canadians as of Monday will be able to start traveling again if they are fully vaccinated and not have to quarantine when they come home. This is a significant step and Canadians are going to benefit from that.”

This means that the fully vaccinated Canadian travelers must still complete some paperwork and submit it to the government’s ArriveCAN app in order to be exempt from a 14-day quarantine when returning from their travels.

Non-vaccinated Canadians flying into one of four Canadian airports accepting international travelers (Toronto Pearson, Calgary, Montréal-Trudeau, and Vancouver) will still have to undergo a mandatory three-night quarantine at a government-designated hotel at their own expense, while the remaining 11 days can be served at home provided their COVID-19 arrival test comes out negative.

Canadians and the residents have been urged to download the ArriveCAN app (GoogleApple) prior to departing the country. A browser-based version is also available, where they must enter their vaccination information and pre-departure COVID-19 test results which must be submitted for another COVID-19 test on arriving back in Canada.
