Ethiopian Airlines To Commence Côte D'Ivoire - JFK

Ethiopian Airlines is set to launch a new service between New York and Côte d'Ivoire on May 23, continuing its spectacular international route expansion.

This service is accessible to travelers going from Ethiopia to New York, as it will take off from the airline's hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Together with its previous destinations, Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its flight schedule this year. To become one of the most magnificent aviation superpowers to ever grace the skies, the airline intends to treble its fleet over the next 12 years and widen its global network, according to its CEO, Mesfin Tasew Bekele.

Several major airlines, including United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air China, Rwanda Air Express, and Lufthansa, have strategic alliances and codeshare arrangements with Ethiopian Airlines. It is in line with Ethiopia's plans to fly to Atlanta for the return of the service via Abidjan, which will begin with four weekly flights. In addition, ASKY Airlines, an international private airline based in Lomé, offers a large number of flights every week between New York and the Ivory Coast. Due to their collaboration, West Africa and Ethiopia's global network now have new connectivity.

Ethiopian Airlines has gained attention for revitalizing inactive African carriers by growing its network and service between Africa and important international destinations. Following an investment by Ethiopian Airlines, Nigeria Airways, which ceased operations in 2003, may successfully resume operations under the Nigeria Air name. Ethiopian Airlines intends to bring back Air Namibia in Southern Africa. The airline has a long-term plan to build out a significant network throughout Africa with various hubs around the continent.
