Mauritius To Require Quarantine For Unvaccinated Tourists

Mauritius has reintroduced strict measures for all the arriving tourists in the country. The new measures which will come into force from July 15 will see every unvaccinated passenger undergo a 14-day compulsory quarantine in a hotel.

Mauritius is gradually reopening its borders for tourism after the lockdown with the first stage of the reopening in July and another stage in September. Mauritius has decided to extend the reopening process to both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers. While the vaccinated would not have to undergo any quarantine upon arriving in the country, the unvaccinated are required to undergo a 14-day compulsory quarantine in one of the country's quarantine hotel rooms.

A quarantine hotel stay is only available for non-vaccinated international travelers and returning Mauritian nationals. This time around, foods will be made available for them. Bookings can be made through a tour operator, travel agent or directly with the hotel.

Fully vaccinated travelers will be able to access all facilities within their chosen hotel including the swimming pool and beach.

Passengers who test negative to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) during their stay in the Hotel will be able to leave the hotel and travel around the island freely for the rest of their stay.

However, all travelers must undergo a PCR test between five and seven days before departure and a negative result is required to travel to the island. Travelers will also undergo a PCR test on arrival at the airport in Mauritius on day seven and day fourteen of their resort bubble or quarantine hotel, as suitable.
