The Canadian government has announced that the country will not welcome any unvaccinated visitors for quite some time
According to the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who disclosed this on Saturday says, "there have been rumors that Canada would reopen the border with the United States this summer, but there is no visible date for the reopening yet."
Despite growing pressure on both sides of the border to reopen for non-essential travel, the Minister has refused to give any reopening dates.
Canada which lifts restrictions for Canadians has kept the ban on non-essential travel into the country. The Prime Minister didn't give any specific dates on reopening to vaccinated tourists. "Regards to allowing unvaccinated travelers into the country, I can tell you right now that’s not going to happen for a while." He stated.
The Canadian government will review the restrictions in a few weeks' time, and may likely reopen borders to the vaccinated but the actual date has not been established.
The Minister added that “we need to continue to ensure the safety of Canadians.” The Prime Minister says his focus is bringing vaccinated travelers back into Canada, and his government will have more to say in the coming weeks.”
