Spain now looks good to bounce back from the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic as the country is hoping to witness a better 2021 summer.
A statement by the Exceltur tourism association noted that the tourism sector is expected to generate not less than 65 percent of the pre-pandemic revenues during this summer despite the rise in Coronavirus cases in the Spanish territory, which has discouraged many travelers from travel to Spain,
Exceltur predicted that tourism revenues which include domestic travel will rise by 35 percent during this summer, as against -58 percent recorded in the 2020 summer.
Spain used to be one of the top European destinations before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic with the travel and tourism sector accounts for approximately 12 percent of the country’s economy.
However, Spain Tourism Minister, Reyes Maroto through a conference held after the cabinet’s weekly meeting stated that "Spain now remains a safe country for tourists to visit regardless of the restrictions that have been imposed in popular parts of the country to halt the further increase in COVID-19 infection cases."
“Spain at this time can be considered a safe destination," The Minister stated.
