Ethiopian Airlines Resumes Abuja - Dubai Flights As FG Moves To Resolve Issues With The UAE

Africa's biggest carrier, Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of Abuja - Dubai flight operations for tourist visa holders.


A statement from the airline confirmed the resumption of flight operations from Abuja to Dubai for travelers with tourist visas only. It stated that "only passengers with tourist visas would be airlifted provided they agree to the terms and conditions by the airline."

According to the airline, "passengers can only fly from Abuja to Dubai, but no flight from Lagos to Dubai yet."

Ethiopian Airlines stated the conditions for passengers with tourist visas to be airlifted as follows:


Layover Flights:
The flight to book from Addis Ababa (ADD) to Dubai (DXB) must be a layover flight and passengers will stay at the airport till the next day to connect. Not a direct flight.

Antigen Test:
Passengers will fill indemnity form that they will do the antigen test at Addis Ababa for 30 dollars.

COVID-19 Test :
Passengers must do the Covid-19 test 48 hours before flight departure. They should use an approved laboratory for their covid~19 test.
There will be no 14-Day Mandatory Quarantine, as the only delay here is the long layover at Addis Ababa.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria has stated that is still in talks with representatives of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to bring a lasting solution to the issues that have led to the suspension of direct flights between the two countries.


This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19,
 Boss Mustapha, at the national briefing of the committee on Monday in Abuja.
Mustapha said, “The ministries of Foreign Affairs and Aviation will continue to dialogue with the representatives of the UAE to resolve the issue of the Emirates flights between Nigeria and the UAE.
