Uganda Reimposes COVID-19 Testing For Arriving Passengers

Uganda authority on Wednesday, September 15 announced a compulsory COVID-19 test for all arriving travelers. The mandatory test was supposed to commence on September 3 but was suspended, has now been enforced by the Uganda government.

Uganda's communication, technology, and national guidance's minister, Chris Baryomunsi in a statement stated that “incoming air passengers would be required to pay $30USD each at a bank at the country’s Entebbe International Airport before proceeding for the test.”

“The test facility at Entebbe airport will be manned by government medical workers, unlike before when the facility was outside the airport and was private.”

“Passengers with tourist visas will have their samples taken but will be permitted to proceed to their respective hotels as they await the processing of their results.”

Baryomunsi added that “similar arrangements are also being organized at land border entry points”

The health ministry of Uganda on August 20,2021 announced that "all inbound travelers would be subjected to mandatory COVID-19 tests regardless of their vaccination status."

The minister added that "all travelers, including children, would be required to present a negative PCR test result conducted within 72 hours before travel."

To ensure the safety of Uganda citizens and travelers, COVID-19 tests are now mandatory for all inbound passengers arriving in the country, irrespective of their nationalities and countries of departure.
